Celebrate Rosh Hashana at Pretend City

Smart Art (all day): Using colorful paper, make a horn similar to a Shofar! During Rosh Hashana, may partake in having apples with honey! Today, we will explore fake apples and yellow/orange paint to explore new ways to create!
(Sensory Table)> Explore fake bread and water to symbolize casting off the sins of the old year!
Purpose: These activities will help develop children’s fine motor skills, teach them about cause and effect, teach them about new cultures, and get them curious about the world around them.
Story Time (TIMES: 11AM & 2:30PM): Happy Birthday, World. A Rosh Hashanah Celebration by: Latifa Berry Kropf
Synopsis: Follow along as we read about birthday celebration traditions and learn about the Rosh Hashanah traditions, too!
Math/Science (directly following story time): Apple and Honey Taste Test: Come join us in Orange Plaza after a story time to understand the traditions of Rosh Hashana. As we learn about bringing in a “sweet” new year we will taste test the traditional apples and honey treat to welcome the new year!
Purpose: Children can develop a positive sense of identity and build self-esteem, cultural appreciation and awareness contribute to building a positive self-image, appreciation for worldly cultures, early exposure, create positive experiences with food, sensory exploration and introduction to new textures.
