This month, 2 doctors from CHOC will speak on how epilepsy affects learning, with the theme being Back to School. We also have an IEP specialists, presenting things to know and how to manage your child's IEP. Children and teens will be in dedicated spaces engaging with their peers, having fun with age appropriate activities!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Join us for our monthly Program Night, taking place August 14th from 5:30-8:30 at the CHOC Harold Wade Education Center!

Children and teens with epilepsy deserve a place where they feel understood, supported, and included. As the new school year begins, we're excited to welcome children and teens with (and their siblings without) epilepsy for an evening of connection, creativity, and fun!

Friday Friends Club (Children): Backpacks & Best Friends - Children will "adopt" their very own stuffed animal friend and get excited for the school year with engaging, age-appropriate activities.

Teen & Young Adult Club: Summer's Not Over - Celebrate the end of summer by creating a summer bucket list, playing games, and connecting with peers who understand the unique experience of dealing with epilepsy.

While your children and teens hang out and have fun, parents will join in the main lecture hall for informational sessions:

This month's presentation, hosted by two CHOC physicians, will discuss how epilepsy affects learning and school success as children head back into the classroom. Along with exploring how seizures impact attention, memory, and behavior, we will also learn practical strategies for supporting students at school, working with teachers, and understanding available accommodations, such as IEP's.

Our Program Night is more than just an event, it's a place where kids and teens can build friendships, gain confidence, and enjoy a supportive community where they belong.
