Calm Morning: Costume Designs Inspired by Disability Pride Month

Our July 25 Calm Mornings program, in honor of Disability Pride Month, starts at 9am with early gallery access designed for a sensory-friendly experience. Stay for a 10am workshop inspired by film characters will disabilities, and design your own costumes in our Shirley Temple Education Studio. ASL interpretation will be provided.
9–10am | Early gallery access
Explore the galleries in Jaws: The Exhibition, on Level 4. Sound and lighting adjustments provide a more sensory-friendly experience.
10am–1pm | Family workshop
Visit the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the Lower Level for a costume design workshop inspired by Disability Pride Month.
Movie costumes have always played a big role in bringing a story to life. The representation of film actors with disabilities... has been evolving since the dawn of cinema. Families will see costume designs from films featuring characters with disabilities and create their own looks using fabric and fun embellishments on illustration boards.
In addition to Calm Mornings, check out the day's calendar, full of short films, tours, and a live performance, all part of our Disabilities, Representation, and Film program.
Or take a seat in our Ted Mann Theater for an accessible, open-caption showing of Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) at 11am. The screening is part of our weekly Family Matinees series. A separate admission ticket is required.
The Shirley Temple Education Studio will remain open during the screening as a space for relaxation and artmaking until 1pm.
Calm Mornings are free with the purchase of general admission. Museum admission for youths 17 and under is always free.
