This group experience allows tweens to explore different aspects of marine mammal science. Tweens gain daily hands-on experience in animal husbandry while working alongside our rescue and rehabilitation team. Participants will learn about the ecology and behavior of various pinnipeds we care for at our facility from PMMC scientists. In addition, they will work on hands-on activities that look at the internal anatomy of sea lions, measure fish otoliths, and analyze harbor seal features. The group will spend one day out in the field with our researchers to conduct marine mammal observations to learn about research methods and techniques our scientists use to collect data.
