SCR's Theatre for Young Audiences and Families productions are geared toward kids 4-12. None of the plays run longer than 90 minutes. The programs are edited and published in a kid-friendly, conversational manner that helps demystify what awaits them on the stage. They contain games and interesting, easily-digestible facts about the play.
This is a wonderful way for children to discover the wonder of theatre. It's how many children learn about the children's literary classics, such as Charlotte’s Web, James and the Giant Peach, Junie B. Jones is Not A Crook (one of three Junie B. Jones plays gracing SCR’s stage), Pinocchio, Red Riding Hood, The Wind in the Willows, A Wrinkle in Time and Last Stop on Market Street. These were all previous TYA productions. And it's also a way for children and their parents to enjoy a family activity in an exciting, out-of-the-ordinary atmosphere.
