Inspired by our Oscar Sundays series focused on the sound category, this workshop clues you in to the technology and techniques behind great onscreen sound. Drop in before you head to the David Geffen Theater, or stop by during your museum visit.
Sound effects editors not only record and manipulate natural audio, but also create the sounds of digital technology, from 8-bit and dial-up to present-day alerts. In this workshop, we’ll prepare to listen deeply to the sounds of the technology in The Hunt for Red October (1990) by learning the techniques of sound effects editors. Just dropping in or want to observe? Explore our collection of synthesizers and experience the variety of digital sounds you can make. Want to explore a... little longer or dive deeper into the world of sound effects? Perform and record your electronic creation to picture.
No prior experience is required for the workshops, and all levels of knowledge are welcome. Warm-Up Workshops are free with proof of general admission or a ticket to the 2pm screening of The Hunt for Red October.
