What our organization offers:
Ages for which our activities are most appropriate:
A watershed event sparked the formation of TGHS in 1979 when a group of citizens banded together to save the much beloved Victorian Doctors House from the wrecking ball. They succeeded, moved the house to Brand Park, restored it and opened it as a museum. Today, our membership-driven, non-profit organization continues in that spirit by creating awareness of Glendale's history and architectural heritage and the need to preserve this rich legacy through advocacy, outreach and education. TGHS also advocates for the identification and preservation of Glendale's landmarks. Some of our projects have included the Alex Theatre, Goode House, Grand Central Air Terminal, Masonic Temple, Adams Hill Gas Station, Glendale Federal Building, Glendale Heritage Garden and many others. We also support the formation of historic districts to preserve the character and fine craftsmanship that defines many of Glendale's established neighborhoods. We owe it to future generations to be good stewards of the past. Join us. It's the best deal in history!
